OMGosh thank you so much, Lord Otter💖😭💖 this was an awesome review! I love your style so much, and I am so happy you like it - I also am incorporating valid critique into my continuing work!
I never wrote a book before, and I'm always so nervous when people read it. But they do!! I personally blame the LOTR and Tolkien for my opening, as my standard for exposition was "do not have a giant party as your prologue"... and I personally liked Tolkien's prologue😆
To save myself from my innate hobbitry, I found a Conan-loving BETA [Alpha?) reader that hated Tolkien and asked if HE liked it lol.
You truly made my year. You are a blessing, Otter, and I love you.💖
I enjoyed the opening, myself. The exposition was interesting and teased me enough with Reader Questions to pull me along. I think the foundation it builds really makes the arrival of the Afterling something that the reader recognizes as a wild card.
The ending is a bit of a cliff hanger, but it is so rich thematically that I felt it was an appropriate break.
Great points to bring up, though. This is a good review of a good book!
It really is good. Startlingly so. I will agree that it opens a little slow, but once Watcher catches a sniff of Rose, things take off.
this book is on my list to buy
